This past week felt like quite a long one-a week for growing pains, if you will. Work is going well, but has become a bit more stressful. I'm handling my own cases now, and I feel like every day I realize how much I still have to learn. The good news is that I AM learning, and while it may be a bit painful and embarrassing, everyone goes through it, right? My colleagues have been very supportive, and I can't be more grateful for that.
On the sweater front, I'm happy to say that things are going well, and I'm making progress. I worked on it every day this week, and still didn't make it to the row where I divide the sleeves until Saturday morning. However, after I knit through my first entire skein of Malabrigo (ever), it was big enough to fit over my entire head. A goofy milestone, of sorts.
Saturday morning I took Sangeeta's advice and put the active stitches on string so that I could try it on, and make sure that the shoulders were at an appropriate place. I have broad shoulders, so while it was a pain in the patooty to put all those active stitches on string (and transfer them back again) I'm glad that I did. It fit quite well, and I can go into the rest of the project feeling assured that this part of the sweater is right on track.
The most exciting thing is that it's actually starting to look like a sweater, and is SO SOFT. Initially I thought that the head hole was HUGE, but now that I've tried it on, I think it'll be just right with the one inch ribbed collar.
Last weekend I had an amazing BELT sandwich at a local joint with Salmaan, and did my best to recreate it this morning for a tasty brunch.
It was frickin' AWESOME. Tomatoes out of my parents' garden, reduced fat bacon, fresh romaine, toasted multi-grain and light mayo were just the ticket. I think I may have Lulu's beat ;-)
I can hear Salmaan playing his piano--I'm off to go enjoy him while I knit the evening away...

Two things:
1) The sweater looks rad.
2) I'm not sure where you'd get it in Richmond exactly, but y'all should try Vegenaise: http://followyourheart.com/vegenaise.html Seriously. It tastes amazing.
